Staying safe during a severe storm

During a storm, it's very important to act with caution and take the following steps:

• Gimme shelter

  Seek appropriate shelter as necessary. Once inside, stay inside, and try to keep a safe distance from windows.

• Use caution

  If outdoors, be cautious and careful on any slick surfaces.

• Electricity

  Avoid using electrical appliances and turn off any that you can.

• On the road

  If you're driving, pull over on the side of the road and be sure to cover your head in case a window shatters.
